Lumoflex provides the Lumoflex City platform as the Smart Streetlight Control Central Management System for the City of Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

Lumoflex has installed 600 smart streetlight controllers in the Old Town and city centre. They give better ambience and more comfort for residents and visitors in Tallinn's picturesque medieval Old Town.

One clear benefit for people is that, with Lumoflex smart street lights in the area, the city can run Christmas lighting even when the street lights themselves are switched off.

Instead of controlling street lighting centrally by switching electricity on and off from the power cables, Lumoflex controllers switch individual street lights according to ambient light conditions. The power cables stay energised at all times, so other devices can draw power from the lighting grid whenever needed.

Tartu, the second largest city in Estonia, has made a strong commitment to making its street lighting network smart and energy efficient.

Lumoflex currently provides smart control that reduces energy consumption for more than 1200 street lights across the city.

Tartu is also exploring advanced uses of smart street light control. Lumoflex has provided the city with special motion-controlled pedestrian-crossing street lights that make drivers more aware of pedestrians crossing the road. This has greatly improved pedestrian safety on long, dark autumn and winter nights.
