A wireless mesh network is a topology where all devices (network nodes) are interconnected and can communicate directly with each other. Every node can send, receive, and re-route data. A flat topology means there is no single central point of failure — each node acts both as an end device and as a router. This gives true self-configuring and self-healing behaviour: the system works out of the box, and if a node fails the rest of the network keeps running.
Distributed computing makes operation exceptionally reliable. Nodes act on saved high-level rules — luminaire dimming schedules are stored in the luminaire controller itself. A single luminaire is no longer controlled by a central server or central network device; the controller runs it.
Lumoflex is based on next-generation IoT technologies developed by scientists at Tallinn University of Technology and Thinnect.
The solution is built on flat multi-hop wireless mesh networking technology and distributed computing.
