What are the requirements for luminaires to install the system?
The luminaires must comply with the D4i standard — that is, they must have a Zhaga Book 18 compatible receptacle and a D4i-certified LED driver.
Where are the luminaire controllers installed?
The luminaire controllers are installed on the Zhaga Book 18 socket.
Does every luminaire controller need a SIM card and an operator contract?
No. Controllers establish a local wireless mesh network between themselves; one internet gateway for a group of luminaires is enough.
How should I configure the luminaire controller network to establish a server connection?
There is no configuration to do. Once the controllers are installed they start communicating and connect to the central server software automatically.
Do I need to draw up a plan before installation showing where each controller goes?
No. Because the mesh network configures itself automatically, there is no need to follow any particular order or predetermined locations for controller installation.
Do I need to install motion detectors on every lamp pole?
No. Motion detectors connect to luminaire controllers by radio, so they can be placed wherever is best for detecting motion.
Where can the internet gateway be installed?
The internet gateway can be installed anywhere within radio coverage of the local luminaire controller network.
What happens if there is no direct line-of-sight radio connection between the gateway and some luminaires?
That is not a problem. Because communication happens in a wireless mesh, even distant controllers can send and receive data — other devices forward it until it reaches its destination.
Will the luminaires keep working if communication with the server is lost?
Yes. They keep working according to the operating rules saved in each luminaire — switching on and off and dimming according to the stored schedule.
